DANIELLE ADAIR
Friday, October 9th & Saturday, October 10th
8:30 PM, approximately 1 hour run time
Screening
her experimental documentary From JBAD: Lessons Learned

Join us for either night. It will be the same piece shown on both nights.

The evening will also feature work by artists Kelly Coats, Josh Mannis, and a new recording by Joe Potts.

As an artist representing an experimental literary press, Danielle Adair embedded with US Forces in Afghanistan last November. Join us for either night as Adair will be screening her experimental documentary From JBAD: Lessons Learned, which examines the military’s language of counterinsurgency. Within the realities of counter-intelligence discourse when is a "you" generally employed instead of an "I," and how do "we" qualify as "we" in different contexts, or for that matter, when do "we" become "they"? With an eye toward experimental geography and the desire within verite cinema, From JBAD: Lessons Learned involves modeling and emulation in investigating what it means to be "embedded." This screening is part of Adair’s First Assignment (www.first-assignment.com) series of projects.

Danielle Adair is an artist living in Los Angeles. She extrapolates through performance and concentrates on various mediums. Adair has shown her work at such venues as The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Smell, and The Velaslavasay Panorama. Her chapbook From JBAD: Lessons Learned was released by Les Figues Press in August 2009. For more information on Adair's projects please visit danielleadair.com.
